theres starlight tattoo…it has a couple of locations that i am aware of….
theres one in belleville & one in paterson. they are extremely clean and well known in the tattooing industry

Seriously though, just find one where many people have gone for a long time. Ask your artist to see their portfolio. Also Google the shop and artist you are considering. Ask him if he has a MySpace or web site with his portfolio. Then message his/her commentors who obviously had been tattooed by them. If someone is a great artist it will be apparent. And if they are great, then they are sanitary.

you can always get tattoo in NYC its not that far there are lots of good tattoo parlors here in the city like on St.Marks place, there are few good ones in Brooklyn( Williamsburg)
you will just take PATH from wherever you live to NYC ( 42st street or Grand Central Terminal ) and from there take the train that you will need to get to the tattoo parlor
