I’m looking to find out what kinds of regulations the state of New Jersey has put it place that regulate what types of things can and cannot be served in a public educational institution, such as a State College. Is there a certain diet that the state recommends/mandates? Please provide sources.

I can’t find any regulations or ‘mandates’ where the state orders certain foods to be served or not served. I honestly don’t see why the state would have to dictate that, rather than allowing the universities to do it themselves. After all, students are adults, and capable of making their own decisions regarding eating habits. All the state or schools can do is attempt to educate students on healthy habits. They can’t force students to only eat healthy food, for instance.
The Rutgers Food Services website explains things like the food pyramid, vegetarian options, etc., but does not state that any foods are required or prohibited. If you want more info, check out the links below.
