I really thought I would hate living in Jersey. South Jersey is beautiful. North Jersey is more industrial and doesn’t have the “charm” in my humble opinion. There are areas that are beautiful up there like Basking Ridge but they are way far out and not close to the beach.

If you want to be close to the beach, any of the cities on the coast line are ideal.

Try hunterdon county for the best of both, i know it is very rural but it is in between both new york ( one hour to two drive) and the nicest beaches like island beach state park ( one hour and a half away to two) and the major citys are about the same length away or less, hope it helps!
-site with pictures and map Ortley Beach is my favorite place to go every summer, its clean, and affordable, they have a great night club on the beach too i just remembered its pretty fun, its also near an amusement park thts a good place to kill some time.
