Demonstrate 3 months in arrears. Take it to the city attorney, a judge has to make the decision but if you can demonstrate that the bum has been given chances previously they are likely to be more strict.

Laws vary from state to state. But usually they first take money from your paychecks or any dividends or bank accounts. Then when it gets to about $40,000 they suspend your drivers liscense. So there are warning signs. And yes eventually you do jail time if your sorry butt dont try and work to pay the back child support. Its your kid, you pay for it. The state is getting tired of paying to support mens off spring.

With the economic downturn, and they have already released all the non-violent criminals, it fully depends on how many lesser violent criminals they can release in order to afford putting someone in jail for being behind on their child support. I assume he was laid off, and filed for a modification, so you demanded he be arrested to keep him from getting it?
