I only voted in one presidential election, and at the time I registered as a republican in New York. Now I reside in New Jersey, and I wish to change my affiliation to independent. What do I need to do so that I can vote as an independent New Jersey resident in the next presidential election?

you may have to apply for an absentee ballot from NY. i dont know how long you have to live somewhere to be eligible to vote

I have lived in 4 states and everytime I changed my driver’s license I was asked if I wanted to register to vote. I have never had to choose a party when I registered.

You got me on that one….I don’t have a clue…but I would think you would look up the phone number to the supervisor of elections and ask them.
