This question has been asked before, but you ask so polietly.

Bartending schools can be ok, most are legit. What you learn from them is how to make drinks, and to get your liquor license.

You can get that on a weekend without paying too much for it.

I’d check local bars/restaurants. Some actually don’t want any “schools” because they want to train you themselves.

If you just want to learn about drinks, you can buy recipe books, or rent from library. Not too hard to lookup. I’d also recomend webtender.com

I would not go to a bartending school. The best lesson is just practice.I bartended for a long time.I was very intimidated before I started but…it turned out to be very easy, fun and drinks repeat themselves. If you go to any bookstore…just ask and they will help you find a bartending guide or book. They even have pocket sizes. You can always bring it with you as a reference. Then make a joke to the customer…and they understand. Any place you start, they offer some training anyway,so ask any questions you might have. When there is a will, there is a way!Good luck!

If you are looking at working at an upscale 4 star bar/ restaurant in NJ, then yeah, bartending school might help. They teach you proper ettiquite of working behind the bar. But if you are looking to work at a club or normal restaurant, just buy a bartenders book and memorize the top 15-20 drinks, and you will be all set.. All bars have a cheat sheet under the counter that they bartenders look at if they get stumped on a drink. Most places do not require a national bartenders license at all anymore.
